Sulphonamides are widely used antibacterial agents, commonly used in veterinary therapy for the treatment of several bacterial protozoan infections in cattle, swine and poultry. They are rendered more effective by combination with diaminopyrimidines such as trimethoprim, another antibacterial agent mainly used in fish culture.
