The clock is ticking on changes to the rules on labelling foods and ingredients which will come into force across the EU on 13th December 2014, with the implementation of the Food Information for Consumers (FIC) (1169/2011/EC). The FIC will come onto the UK statute books as the Food Information Regulations (FIR), and is due to be published in May 2014. With a little under 9 months to go, there is work to be done to ensure that all food business operators understand what impact the FIR will have on them and that they are in a position to meet the requirements of the new legislation especially with respect to allergen management.
