‘Goodbye PARNUTS, Hello FSG’ – new food law regulation

On 20 July 2016, Directive 2009/39/EC on foodstuffs intended for particular nutritional uses (PARNUTS) was repealed as were certain labelling rules that were nolonger needed. The PARNUTS Directive was replaced by  Regulation (EU) 309/2013. This change of legislation, from PARNUTS to FSG, has had far-reaching consequences on certain foods with some of the issues still unresolved.

On 1 March 2017, expert speakers from the Food Standards Agency and the Department of Health along with representatives from the sports foods, young children's foods and meal replacement sectors will give an overview of the changes that have occurred to the legislation and the implications this has had on the categorisation, labelling and legal compliance of particular food types.

The programme will look at why the change from PARNUTS to FSG came about and what it actually means.
